Driving history:
"I started driving as soon as I could - I was pretty independant at an early age having worked for my Dad's entertainments/arcade machines business since I was 11, when I started as a Bingo Caller! I had a 50cc bike as soon as I was 16, by then I was working as a service engineer on the slot machines. I used to have this tool box on the back of the bike and I'd be off to Lancaster University. Ok, so I didnt' actually attend Uni, I just got to live the lifestyle while working on the slot machines!
Being a service engineer, I've always been mechanically minded, and therefore well into cars, so as soon as I could I was driving bigger and faster cars. In fact my first big car came about after I rolled my Dad's Granada 2.8 ghia saloon and wrote it off in 1991 I hit black ice – span like a fairground ride – every single panel on car was dented it was a complete write off – but I escaped without a single scratch...and went on to get a Porsche 944!
Since then, I had an SJX convertible which only lasted 6 weeks – it drove like a tank! I had an AC Cobra for 3 years, I've had all sorts really, from Porsches to Jags. I guess my dream car would be an Aston Martin Vanquish...I see it as the Quintessential English gentleman’s car! Perfect for the international playboy look...but for now I'm driving a
VW golf an R32 – I love it it's a 3.2 v6.... v.tasty...250 bhp standard......and when its out of it's warrantee I'm going to beef
up... I use it for work...I've done 2 rallies in it - it's had 2 full sets of discs, 2 clutches, wheel bearings, you name it - it's had it done, but then I have given it a bit of stick!
I don't do stupid things so much any more, I used to, but got away with it – I've got a clean licence – touch wood – I guess I'm lucky in that I'm often in the right place at the right time!
I did the Cannonball 06, 07 and in 08 - Manchester to Brighton... we were car number 8, so the car had a full body wrap –like an 8 ball...
